A small-town museum. A global story. An unexpected connection to Palestine. When an artist moves to rural Ohio, she uncovers a powerful Palestinian artifact hidden in plain sight. What is it—and how did it get there? This intimate film traces a surprising path through history, empire, and diaspora.

What it is about

Join us at the International Peace Museum for a screening of Mona Gazala’s documentary film, “Trail Markers” (82 min.).

Part artist autobiography and part historical documentary, this film follows Mona’s move to rural Darke County, Ohio, and her discovery of the unlikely existence of a significant artifact related to Palestine’s history, housed in the county museum only a few miles from her new home. What is the artifact, and how did it wind up there? This film follows a winding road to the answers, and along the way, connects the dots between empire and diaspora.  Trailer here: https://youtu.be/eeEBAS4rvRc?si=ffkd6-0RhK9SVhD2
